little BIG pants

one lone red shoe

true to my "always prepared" self. i sewed the first one up incorrectly, thus trashing the matching shoe and lo and behold, all out of red fabric, great. so here is the promised pic as i can't seem to muster up the energy or desire to head into the big city and hit joann's (not a big fan) the lines are always horrendous and i only need like 1/2 yard, so one lone shoe is where i'm at. oh, and no button. isn't it cute, though? i can't wait to see them on my friends baby. she is 12 weeks now and the pattern i made up is for (i hope) 0-3 months, we'll see...

i've been getting out of the house lately and it certainly does this stay-at-home mom good. took h. to the park today and met a very cool gal with two cute kids and we are going to set up a play date, HEY! being relatively newcomers to our small town its nice to meet people who one seems to click with right away. and having friends in town would be nice as all of ours live at least 45 minutes away. must get to sewing!!!!

every girl needs a pair of red shoes

so i'm sewing red baby shoes today. finished pics will come tomorrow-promise! i went on etsy yesterday to check out the competition and of the 57 pages of baby shoes there were probably 10 pairs that were really cute. what are people thinking spending time knitting baby booties and then selling them for $5 ! YIKES. mine will not be that cheap. i also have an idea of selling these booties so you can display them in a shadow box because they are just so damn sweet (at least i think so) and look like little pieces of art. i just have to get my hubby to show me how to make frames. i leave you with a another link via camilla engman. the artist is asako masunouchi check out the 3D work, little matchbooks (the above pic) and mini people- good stuff!

penguin in the shop

i just listed this little cutie in the shop! shout out to scottie (i link to his NYC blog on the left) who encouraged me to get more things in the shop. i know, i know. slowly but surely. UPDATE-SOLD, thank you!

what inspired me today

h.'s footprint in dust on a bookshelf that isn't where it's supposed to be (always in demolition mode). h. getting excited showing me a dead fly.

my allium's purple against the rhodo's bright pink flowers and hearing the fountain again after the long winter.
 
fushias that almost look fake and the lemon yellow daisy in the front that have survived another day of being trampled by the dogs (just barely).

tlc to h.'s room

this is the start of h's quilt. poor kid has absolutely nothing on his walls and a lone book shelf with all his books constantly being thrown on the floor. this will be the start of some sort of decorating effort. i'm sticking with a pretty neutral pallet for the quilt, blues and yellows. i believe i'm going to sew curtains out of the thin blue stripe ticking. one problem his walls are a light green- YIKES- may not work with the quilt but i believe the new baby will get his room, so problem solved!

feeling more human

i've been on the mend and still battling a bit of a queasy tummy but i can confidently say that i'm almost back to the land of the living. i'm so lucky this is just a flash in the pan. some women are sick the entire 9 months, knock on wood (knock, knock). i actually finished painting our front door today which was a project i started like 7 weeks ago. the spring flowers help. above is my favorite tree, our red bud. it has the most amazing, beautiful purple flowers. i managed to weed my 3 beds yesterday and preen and change bedding and after all that i was spent. so i folded some laundry and watched "music and lyrics". so darn cute. i love hugh grant. i love the fact that he is aging and not hiding it like types like the bag of bones michael douglas. i also have projects on the tips of my fingers just wanting to get out.....another good sign!
