all 14 embroidery pieces from "a week in 1953" series are complete!!!! i am very proud and eager to share these pieces. please visit my newly created "gallery" at the left to see more images and further details. they are all for sale through my shop!
first came the sketch, then the scanning, then the tracing and cutting and the first bunny was born (below).
oh, he was too skinny, his legs were all crazy, along with his arms and back to the pattern i went...
next, i tweaked the arms and the legs and made the pattern wider. i also tried stitching whiskers on (i don't like them). but the arms and legs were still not right. back to the drawing board...
viola! i sewed separate arms and got the legs right. each bunny features a yo-yo tail. i hope to post some on my etsy site soon in time for easter!!! the finished products are the black bunnies above and below!!! hope you like them.
this dress painting is by artist, todd murphy. sorry for the poor quality. it is scanned from the latest issue of met. home (march '08). i love the darkness and the velvety richness of the red bodice and the charcoal grey satin skirt. stunning...wish i owned one!!!
