36 my gosh, i'm officially pushing 40! this was the age my mom was when i first remembered my mom's age(does that make sense?) i thought she was old. this is my baby picture. i can see o's eyes in mine at this age. i love birthdays. for me, i feel so special and i always make sure i do just what i want to do, no one can begrudge you that, it's your birthday! and its a great time to reflect on all my blessings! i'm so blessed with my little spunky, super h! i'm so blessed with my smiley, easy going baby o! i'm so blessed with my hubby j. who works like a madman so i can stay home with the boys. he surprised me this morning by a)remembering my birthday and b) a dvd on "how to play the ukelele. so far i can strum out a few tunes but this will definately help!
and i'm so blessed with my sisters and brother, mother and father, nieces and nephews, in-laws and out-laws, and friends! I love you all and i'm truly, truly blessed.
is there a quilt miss schmidt makes that isn't GORGEOUS? "a few isolated patches" via heather ross's online journal is now on view at moss outdoor in sante fe. click on the exhibit, one big square is just as beautiful. and i wasn't aware that she came out with another fabric series called "country fair". it features her old patterns in new colors and the above fabric, "patchwork promenade". normally, i'm not a fan of "cheater" prints or fake quilting but this one is pretty damn good!
it is rare that i see a space and love EVERYTHING in it. usually it is a chair here, a pillow there. but stephen and shauna from something's hiding in here makes me want to pack my bags and show up on their doorstep and plead for a few hours of their time to soak up their creativity. i can't tell you how much i love the wall papered wall with wooden cutout to display a collection of deer! dare i say, how dear! and their cork lamps (which you can make yourself via their article in august '08 issue of readymade) i love their repetition of yellows and blues. and who wouldn't want a swing in their living room? i'm definately missing some of this whimsy in my own house. check out their blog and their shop (mustache on a stick, why yes, they have those too!) more photos of space here.
just in time for halloween, audrey has chosen her costume! she is"little red riding hood". blue dress features white ruffle neckline detail. her red hoodie will be perfect for the crisp october weather! she can't wait to go trick or treating with her basket, which is now filled with lovely little acorns. in the shop later today.
these beautiful themed "cuppacakes" via bloesem can be yours next time your kickin' around kuala lumpur. wondermilk is a shop run by graphic artists you can visit to munch on these beautiful treats. these would look just gorgeous at your next baby or bridal shower. something tells me if an order were placed from somewhere in minnesota, they would, unfortunately arrive....stale.
it's fall! and "audrey at the apple orchard" is sipping apple cider and walking through the crisp leaves with mommy and daddy enjoying the sunny skies of autumn. i would have liked to add actual apples to this shot but i wanted to get her posted today, and my favorite apple, honey crisp, have not yet made it to my local grocery store! and look who's going to grandma and grandpa's house! "audrey visits grandma and grandpa"is another new audrey. she loves reading with her grandma and taking boat rides with her grandpa! she is one lucky girl! they will both be in the shop later today.
off doll topic, have you seen "then she found me"with helen hunt and colin firth (love that man). so sweet! i love bette midler in it,too. i'm not usually a fan of helen hunt but she is so good in it. there is a scene where she is yelling at bette midler for giving her up for adoption and it isso real! a definite renter. a redbox was placed outside (YES, OUTSIDE) our local walgreens, pretty soon we'll see the drive up ones, can't wait!
over labor day we went to an antique flea market. there was so much good stuff but we walked away empty handed. someday i'll go to one of these without the kids. i can't understand why a three year old doesn't get excited about old hat boxes and distressed wood? hmmmmmm. curious.
articulated paper dolls by artist, amy earles via poppy talk. so flippin' sweet! how beautiful would these be in a shadow box. she sells some of her designs through her etsy site. so sweet. i love her vintage clothes she paints on her dolls and look, a little vampire! OH! love that one! check out the mermaid with the octopus on her blog!
ok, i'm so not into cars or (cringe) motorcycles, but when someone knits one, i pay attention. UK artist, lauren porter, knitted this ferrari for a school project. 10 months and 12 miles of yarn later she produced one hell of a hot rod.
