i'm 36 years old and reading twilight...did i mention i'm loving it. it helps that i have a 16 year old sister and a 13 year old niece that have read it too. like, "i'm just reading it to see what those crazy teenagers are into nowadays!". did i also mention that my 37 year old sister has scarfed up all 4 books. i'm on page 316 and i can't put it down. i consider it my christmas gift to myself. my hubby said "i can't believe you're reading that when you could be learning something". the days of pleasure reading left me in the dust years ago. i forgot that reading can be such an escape. if you loved the vampire chronicles by anne rice in high school like i did (i was in love with lestat) than i'm sure you'll love these!

whatever happened to the popularity of the accordian? could it have something to do with the sheer workout it has to be to play? my grandpa played a mean accordian. his was quite the specimen, shiny ivory keyboard and red piping. i don't know how any kid could squeeze out a tune with their little arms pumping back and forth, let alone hitting the chord buttons and twinkling the ivories at the same time. and who knew they had flor tile in the '40s? pics from square america

i just got this book at the library. not only is it a sweet story it has the most beautiful illustrations by artist, nicoletta cecolli. go check it out!

sometimes when sewing things happen that one doesn't see until the whole thing is finished. therefore, i'm offering these two audreys at a discount (just in time for the holidays!)
 
"audrey goes carolling" #3 unfortunately has arms a bit askew, but fortunately for you instead of $75 she can be yours for $65!!! 
"audrey decorates the christmas tree" #3 is practically perfect in every way except for her little arms.

while cutting these pieces i must of notched them a bit too much. i have taken great care at fixing these two little holes, but it is a flaw none-the-less. instead of $55, i will sell her for $40. audrey celebrates the new year

 
the last of the "holiday" audreys are here! "audrey celebrates new year's" in green.
 
and here she is in red. these lovelies are made of silk, so perhaps not so play friendly but fabulous none-the-less! each has a vintage button to finish off her yo-yo flourish. i'll be shipping items from my shop until december 19th and then will be leaving on christmas vacation. ho ho ho!

audrey decorates the christmas tree

 
the 2nd holiday audrey in a three series. here is "audrey decorates the christmas tree". i made two of these beauties. this one has a vintage aquamarine button.
 
and this little gal has a vintage black button. now available in the shop!

velvet, silk and fake fur, oh my!

  
"audrey goes caroling" is the first of my three holiday audreys. she is wearing a luscious velvet red dress (it's like butta!) the word velvet just sounds dreamy, doesn't it? i tell you what isn't dreamy is sewing the stuff. after a quick internet search on any tips, i learned the best thing to do is put on a walking foot for sewing this tricky, rich fabric.

 
she is bundled up in a cream fur cape with matching muffler. she is soooo sweet and cozy! fake fur isn't the easiest to sew either. this took a few attempts as well. she will be in the shop later today
 
here is the silk! how i love this fabric. it boggles my mind to think that little worms created this rich fabric. these little yoyos will be on "audrey celebrates new years" she is going to be so fabulous! i think that all women should have something silk and velvet for the holidays!
