eye candy friday-lemons!

i just bought a yard of this for a new friend for audrey. isn't it so springy and juicy. i can't wait to sew it into a dress or skirt or??? still working on what her new friend is going to be wearing...the fabric is by sandy gervais for moda, called fresh squeezed citrus berry in lemon. there are a few different colors available.

what i won't see strolling down the street in my town. how cool would this be. "hey watch out for that lemon" i would be picking lemons all the time (i wonder if there is a law against this in more tropical places?) spring here in minnesota is the pits, cold, snow and wind. but when life gives you lemons....make lemonade! pic courtesy of grismarengo

project beautification continues

this is an idea of what my quilt that i'm going to sew for our bedroom is going to look like. i wanted something simple with not a lot of pops and buzzes and came up with this design. it was so helpful to cut little swatches from the fabric to visualize different designs. i am also going to add a 6" chocolate brown border. the robin egg blue theme is still running strong. i like the idea of unifying my house with a common thread- that thread being, viola- robin egg blue! our bedroom right now looks like a college dorm. the mattress is on the floor, my hubby has the only bedside table, my books and magazines rest ever so snugglely on the floor along with my mismatched lamp to j's. in a word - work is needed. it took me forever to figure out scale, yardage, etc. but i think i got it! tune in soon (give me a few weeks) for the quilt result - the whole bedroom revamping may take longer!

well at least new to me. Joel Dewberry. check it out- wood grain in tons of colors!!!!

project beautification

project beautification (pb) is underway! my leather couch was barren with only two lone blue pillows to "warm" it up and way out of scale. so i used amy butler fabric, moda fabric and the coral fabric (can't remember designer) to cozy up the space.

i loved sewing the swiss flag pillow or is it a red cross? anywho....its my favorite one!

pb will also involve painting the rest of trim on windows downstairs, a huge (and i mean huge!) stairwell, the rest of the upstairs, & new room for h.....must get to work!

antique and fabric love 2

some finds from the local antique shop. i actually got to look this time as the mother-in-law is visiting and watching h. i bought the above card because it is just so beautiful the red ink, the perfectly cancelled stamp. it would be a great specimen to blow up like the first issue of blueprint featured. where is the darn next issue? i've been waiting and waiting...

fabric love

here is my latest fabric acquisitions. The coral reef is by phillip jacobs- and I LOVE IT so!!! I'm thinking pillows but perhaps it will sit in an organized box just beckoning me for months. my project at the moment is spackling my windows in my front rooms of my house then i can paint, which will in turn put a bug in my hubby's behind to finish our kitchen- countertops always add so much, don't they? later gators...
