square america

Swim_2_square
i could spend all day perusing square america's site via swiss miss. collector, martin johnson, has spent umpteem hours and $$$ gathering and sorting old photos. on his site he has curated them into galleries with themes on summer, smoke, guns, love, dance, sleep and many more. a must see for any lover of vintage snapshops.

artist, franck juery

Fjuery_house
every now and again i come across an artist that i just want to spend a solid week with, seeing how they work and being their assistant. its funny i say that as i used to love watching my hubby throw pots (still do!) and i was his assistant, making glazes, unstacking the kilns...
Fjuery_book
these photographs are from french artist franck juery via automatism and i LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!! i can't get enough of the little girl in red tights with white sandals stepping on the house. to me, it evokes all sorts of memories.
Fjuery_trailer

anonymous photo project

House_ontario
this image is from camera #33 (somewhere in ontario) from the anonymous photo project which i learned about via poppytalk. a curious package is left in all different corners of the world waiting for a complete stranger to pick it up, shoot some photos and send it back to HQ in vancouver, bc. how exciting to see these cameras come back and discover what little gems are hidden on the film. you can become part of it too! just go to the site and click on participate. NEAT-O!

artist, maggie taylor

Abdullah_taylor
artist, maggie taylor via artpark has some very interesting images. a collage of photoshop magic, if you will. some of it is a bit to collage/stamper/19th century for me but still some good eye candy any way you slice it...

diorama photographer, lori nix

Snow_storm
Bird_houses
inspiration for tuesday! lori nix, photographer, via moco loco. there is a quick video of her take on her work here. i like the fact that she admits she doesn't like leaving her studio to take photos, so she creates the work inside. good stuff...

tilt shift photography

Tiltshift
i've been seeing a few photos like this lately and at first i was like "my gosh, those models must have taken forever to build" but then through some sort of random search i came across a few groups of tilt shift photography. these are real pics manipulated by photoshop or MS paint to look like dioramas! brilliant!
this one can be found in a group called "top 20 fake tilt-shifts" on flickr. a good quick tutorial can be found here.

they grow so fast

H_looking_down
i found the wagon picture of little h. my ode to loretta lux and julie blackmon that i previously posted about. looking through these old pics just makes me want to hold on that much tighter to these little chubby, no walk, drool days that go so darn fast. now h. is running, climbing, talking and he is only 27 months! the old saying is so true, "they grow so fast"

on the project beautification (pb) front i have recovered a bench cushion that still needs buttons and have started painting h.'s new room. photos to follow!

on a break...so inspiration calls

Squirrel
terrific photographer, catherine ledner found via design sponge. she has great pics of animals like the squirrel above and the donkey below. one of my favorites is of a raccoon but her site is protected. not to be missed on her site is her pics of children as well. there is a great one of a baby crawling on an old linoleum floor and a dachsund opposite.

i'm at my parents for a week in muggy north dakota. so nice to be back in my childhood home. all the old smells and safe feelings come back. good times.
